Kevin Draper '10: What We’re Thankful For.

Most of the Diss-cussants are spending time with their families today, so we’re not doing anything too deep.  We just wanted to share what we, as NBA fans, are thankful for this season, and this past year, in general.

In no particular order:

Things The Diss is (are?) Thankful For:

* The firing of Mike Brown. He took defensive coaching to a whole new level by finding a way to defend his own team, and prevent them from scoring.

* The millionaires and billionaires came to an agreement a little under a year ago and ended the lockout. That ensured that basketball would be played for at least the next five years without fear of a (sanctioned) labor stoppage.  Hockey fans, should they actually exist, will not be so lucky.

* That LeBron James finally won his championship, so we could move on with our own shit.

* Harrison Barnes.

* Basketball-Reference. Blog life saver.

* That Seattle seems to be on its way to getting a franchise back.

* That Sacramento has a few more seasons to find a new owner, fund a stadium, and save professional basketball in California’s central valley.  Good luck, guys; we’re rooting for you.

* That James Harden has his own team, and that he’s in a backcourt with an emancipated Jeremy Lin.

* That Jamal Crawford got his shit together and is finally becoming the player that he could’ve been back in New York (or Chicago, or Golden State, or Atlanta, or Portland, or…)

* The flopping rule seems to actually be working.

* That the season is long.  Hang in there, Denver.  Lake Show, eh.

* The Diss Dot Blogspot Dot Com. Blogspots come and go, but legends never die.

* SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED.

* That there’s no shortage of players playing (even though there’s a metric fuckton of injured stars).

* The unbelievable depth the league has at the point guard position.

* That the Charlotte Bobcats (6-4!  America’s Team!) are not doomed.  And, pretty cool.

* Kevin Love!  Times four!

* That Jason Kidd wins wherever he goes, doing whatever he does now (shooting guard?).

* Road wins for the Dubs!  Cannot be overstated.

* That we all, as a blog, have League Pass (legally, of course).

* Gregg Popovich and Timmy Duncan are great at their jobs, and has given us wonderful Spurs teams for almost 15 uninterrupted years now.

* That Shaq’s getting better at his new job.  Maybe.

* That the strangest glass ceiling in sports has been broken.

* Four more years of a president who knows his ball. Sorry Mitt, no one cares about Dressage. Topical!

* You all.  Of course.

Happy Thanksgiving, from all of us at The Diss.
